#1—Mill Sac

The 2014 Pre-Trib Study Group Conference entitled “Things to Come” was our 23rd conference, which focused primarily on current events and their relation to setting the stage for the fulfillment of Bible prophecy.  Our meeting took place at the Sheraton Grand Hotel near the Dallas/Fort Worth airport.  This year’s banquet featured Dr. Robert Jeffress, pastor of First Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas.  The Lord blessed us with a good turnout and a splendid time of fellowship.  Here is an overview of what took place at the conference.

Monday’s Presentations

Dr. Thomas Ice opened the conference by welcoming all to the conference and had the members introduce themselves, their ministry and where they were from.  Ice of The Pre-Trib Research Center gave a presentation entitled: “A Proposed Approach to the Application of Bible Prophecy to Current Events.”[1]  He attempted to layout a framework for the proper interpretation of Bible Prophecy events and how they may function as signs of the times in which we live today, yet at the same time not yet fulfilling Bible Prophecy.

Dr. Andy Woods,[2] pastor at Sugar Land Bible Church and professor at the College of Biblical Studies in Houston, Texas spoke on “World Government on the Horizon.”  Woods began at the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11 to show the origin of the human impulse toward globalism and God’s early judgment.  He then demonstrated from Scripture that there will come a three and a half year period in the future when God will allow Satan to establish global government but it will be interrupted this time by the return of Christ to set up His thousand-year reign from Jerusalem.

Monday afternoon’s papers started with Mark Musser[3], Pastor of Grace Redeemer Bible Church in Olympia, Washington and graduate of Evergreen State College, who spoke on “The Tyrannical Apocalyptic Lawlessness of Modern Environmentalism.”  Musser provided overwhelming information that the environmental movement clearly desires to advance global government as a means to implement their green goals and objectives.  He provided ample evidence that many such programs are well on their way to achieving their objectives.

Monday’s final paper was delivered by Carl Teichrib[4] on “Becoming Babel: Pursuing the Vision of World Unity.”  Teichrib’s lecture was an amazing overview of the efforts in the last twenty-five years of people and organizations attempting to advance the cause of globalism in many different arenas.  He spoke about governmental, religious, spiritual, economic, educational, digitally, and many other areas that change agents are literally moving the world toward oneness and global government in virtually every area of life.  Teichrib not only studies these movements but, has often attended their conferences and observed much of what is going on firsthand.  This thrust toward globalism is like a tsunami sweeping across the planet and as believers we can know where it is headed and its ultimate destiny.

The Banquet

The Monday evening banquet was an exciting and entertaining time for all attending.  Music for the evening was provided by Jacob Ray a singer from Denton Bible Church in Denton, Texas.  Dr. Ice served as the master of ceremonies and Dr. Tim LaHaye spoke briefly about the need for Christians to be involved in society.

Dr. Robert Jeffress[5] was our keynote speaker for the evening.  His sermon inspired us to be involved in winning the lost and all we can for Christ while at the same time waiting for the Lord’s return.  The Lord’s delay is not a reason to sit around and do nothing, instead, it should be a motive to be about spreading the gospel throughout the entire globe and be found faithful in His absence.

This year the Pre-Trib Research Center bestowed the John F. Walvoord Lifetime Achievement award upon Dr. Charles C. Ryrie, former professor of systematic theology at Dallas Theological Seminary, one of the greatest theologians of our day, and author of the renowned Ryrie Study Bible.  Dr. Ryrie has been a long-time defender of biblical truth such as the inerrancy of God’s Word and dispensationalism.  He has also been a clear proponent of Bible prophecy and is well deserving of this recognition by our Center.

Tuesday’s Presentations

Tuesday morning began with a devotional message from Dr. Paul Wilkinson,[6] a British scholar from the Manchester, England area who spoke about the importance of how Christ’s any-moment coming has been and continues to be a significant motivation for godly living in this present day.

The first presenter on Tuesday morning was Jim Fletcher,[7] a publisher, author, and conference speaker, who spoke on “Opposing Joshua—The Modern Evangelical War on Israel.”  Fletcher’s presentation contained a summary of a new trend within Evangelicalism, especially among those in their 20s and 30s, concerning a trend away from support for Israel, turning instead toward support for Palestinians.  This movement is not real large at this time, since most Evangelicals still are strong supporters of the modern nation of Israel, but trends indicate that in ten years things could change within Evangelicalism and greatly reduce support for Israel among Evangelicals.  This erosion of support for Israel is linked to the rise of the Emerging Church movement and other recent fads within Evangelicalism among the young.

Phillip Goodman[8] is founder and director of Bible Prophecy as Written Ministry in Tulsa, Oklahoma and he spoke on “Ezekiel 38 and Psalm 83: Relationship and Timing.”  Goodman had a tremendously composed PowerPoint presentation in which he made a case for the Battle of Gog and MaGog of Ezekiel 38 taking place shortly before the tribulation but after the rapture.  He also engaged in a critique of the supposed Psalm 83 war which some have suggested will precede the Ezekiel 38 campaign against Israel.  I personally believe that there will be no such thing as a Psalm 83 war since it contains no prophecy.

Dr. Mark Hitchcock[9], a leading prophecy author and pastor of Faith Bible Church in Edmond, OK provided a critique of the popular blood moons theory in his presentation entitled “Blood Moons Rising: Is the Blood Moon Tetrad a Sign of the Time?”  Hitchcock noted that the blood moon theory is based totally on speculation.  The key passage they use to speculate with is Joel 2:31 which says that the moon will actually be turned into blood; not that there will be a blood moon as advocates say that will merely reflect a red color.

Mathias Kern,[10] who has been a professional geopolitical analyst for more than 25 years, working for almost two decades as an advisor to the Spanish government spoke about “The European Union: Setting the Stage for the Tribulation.”  In his presentation, he provided a brief history of the EU and spoke of current trends as the Union attempts to become the most powerful influence in the world.  Many learned a great deal about the EU and its ultimate goal of global governance.

We had our traditional Tuesday evening session dealing with current events and Bible prophecy.  The two presenters were Bill Koenig a mainstay at our conference who is a White House correspondent and head of World Watch International news agency ( and Wilfred Hahn an international banker from Canada and director of Eternal Value ministry (  Koenig provided an insightful update on what is going on in Washington and Israel, as he documented the growing rift between the two, mainly because of the clear abandonment of Israel by the Obama administration.  Hahn gave an excellent overview of how the international banking system works and how it is inevitably leading us toward one-world government and economic system.  He explained why we are trending toward a global currency in the long run.

Wednesday’s Presentations

On Wednesday morning, Dr. Randall Price,[11] professor of Jewish Studies at Liberty University and head of World of the Bible ministry, spoke on the topic of “Ready to Rebuild: The Still Imminent Plan to Rebuild the Last Days Temple.”  Price spoke about the many current events that have been taking place in Jerusalem in relation to the battle over the Temple Mount between the Jews and the Muslims.  He placed these current happenings within the historic and prophetic context taught by the Bible.  Things are certainly heating up in the realm of the Jewish desire to rebuild their Holy Temple.

Dr. Gary Frazier [12] is an evangelist and prophecy teacher and spoke about “The Final Word on Bible Prophecy: What, Why and How?”  Frazier emphasized the importance of relating evangelism and the gospel when we teach or preach Bible prophecy.  There is such a natural transition to the gospel when dealing with the rapture and Bible prophecy that we should make sure to use it to challenge unbelievers to trust Christ as their Saviour every chance we get.  This provided a natural conclusion to the entire conference and encouraged us to apply the implications of our theology.

One can download a form to purchase a MP3 audio CD or DVD videos of the entire conference on the front page of our Pre-Trib website (  Next year’s conference is scheduled for the Dallas/Fort Worth area at the same Sheraton hotel, December 7–9, 2015, unless the rapture occurs first.  Next year’s topic will focus on issues relating to premillennialism and the importance of Christian support for Israel.  We expect this to be an outstanding conference.  Why don’t you start making plans now to join us?  Maranatha!
