Banquet speaker: Max Lucado
Max Lucado has enjoyed a double calling in his lifetime—to preach and to write. Max and his wife, Denalyn, spent five years as church-planting missionaries in Brazil before settling in at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, where he currently serves as Teaching Minister.
As a writer, Max is known for combining poetic storytelling and homespun humor with the heart of a pastor. He’s been dubbed “America’s Pastor” by Christianity Today, and “The Best Preacher in America” by Reader’s Digest. His books have sold more than 150 million copies in over 50 languages worldwide. In August 2024, his 46th trade book, What Happens Next, was published.
Max’s love for everyday people began during his childhood in the small town of Andrews, TX. While in a rebellious period in his teenage years, Max trusted Christ as his savior after realizing there was more to life than parties and chasing girls. After high school he attended Abilene Christian University and earned two degrees. From there he moved to Florida to take an associate pastor position and then on to Brazil.
Max and Denalyn have three married daughters and five grandchildren.
