Randall Price

Dr. J. Randall Price serves as President for World of the Bible Ministries. He is a Th.M. graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary and holds a Ph.D. in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. He has done graduate study at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and conducted archeological excavation in Israel with the University of Texas in conjunction with the teaching of courses in biblical archaeology and the history and culture of modern Israel and more recently headed the archaeological dig at the Qumran Plateau between 2002 and 2006. He is currently the Executive Director and Distinguished Professor of Judaic Studies at Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA.

(John) Randall Price was born in San Marcos on November 19, 1951 to Elmo Churchill and Maurine Grace Price. His grandfather began the first phone company in San Marcos and the family residence was an historic home (150 years old) in the center of town across from the First United Methodist Church. He and his wife Beverlee Shaw (married for 31 years) have five children: Elisabeth (married), Eleisha (married), Erin (engaged), Jonathan (engaged), and Emilee (in college).

Dr. Price received his bachelor’s (B.A.) from Texas State University, his master's degree (Th.M.) from Dallas Theological Seminary in Old Testament and Semitic Languages, and his doctorate (Ph.D.) from the University of Texas at Austin in Middle Eastern Studies with a concentration in Hebrew and Archaeology. He has also done graduate work in biblical and archaeological studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Dr. Price has been an instructor at the University of Texas (Austin), an adjunct professor in the Department of Archaeology and Biblical History at Trinity Southwest University (Albuquerque, New Mexico), and is an adjunct professor on the faculty of the Pasche Institute of Jewish Studies connected with Criswell College in Dallas, TX. He is currently the Executive Director and Distinguished Professor of Judaic Studies at Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA.

He has been involved in archaeological excavation at Tel-Yin'am, Jerusalem, and is currently Director of excavations at the Qumran plateau (since 2002), site of the Dead Sea Scroll community, and Assistant Director of the Hyrcania tunnel excavation, in Israel. He has been a co-curator of the traveling museum exhibition: “From the Dead Sea Scrolls to the Forbidden Book” and is preparing to open the World of the Bible Museum in the future.

Dr. Price is founder and President of World of the Bible Ministries, Inc. (since 1993), an organization specializing in research and communication of information about the ancient and modern world of the Bible. He lectures in conferences worldwide and appears on numerous talk shows and television and radio programs as an expert on the Middle East. He has led more than 70 tours to the lands of the Bible and is a certified Christian tour guide in Israel.

In January 2007, Liberty’s late Founder and Chancellor Dr. Jerry Falwell invited Dr. Randall Price to the campus to direct the establishment of a Center for Judaic Studies that would include an initial faculty comprised of Dr. Thomas Ice, Dr. Harold Willmington, and Dr. Ed Hindson. Dr. Falwell’s vision was for a new school that would continue the recognition that Israel and the Jewish people were part of God’s future program and that the Christian response to this in the spiritual and political realm was essential to God’s present blessing...
