Last issue I looked at a possible pre-trib rapture find from the Apocalypse of Elijah. This month I will be surveying the findings of Dr. William Watson and his pre-trib rapture discoveries of the 1600s from the English-speaking world. Dr. Watson has a M.Div. from Talbot Theological Seminary in California and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Riverside in Early Modern British History (16th–18th centuries). Thus, he is well qualified to research the seventeenth century English-speaking world and their writings on biblical prophecy. Watson has been doing just that for the last seven years and has come up with some interesting finds in relation to pretribulationism...
In the coming tribulation period, the nation of Israel will be abandoned by all of the Gentile nations and have nowhere to turn . . . nowhere except to the Lord. Only the Lord God of Israel will care for Zion. When this occurs in the tribulation, when Israel can only turn to the Lord, she will. It will be at that moment that the Lord will rescue His formerly wayward wife. However, today we see an ever-mounting number of threats on the horizon that threaten to wipe Israel off of the map. I have a prediction to make! ...

God’s viewpoint on this matter is what ultimately matters since He will at some point in the future implement His will. If God says something then that settles it, that decree will surely come to pass. However, it is interesting to note that international law is and has always been on the side of the reestablishment of the modern state of Israel. Furthermore, the law also supports the claim that Jerusalem belongs to the Jews and that the Arabs have no legitimate legal claim upon Judaism's most holy location.
No one disputes the fact that America has a unique history during which it became, and continues to be a preeminent feature in global affairs. The recent war in Iraq is but one example. In a quarter of a millennium it has become a nation unlike any other nation in the history of the world. In some respects, it rivals nations with much longer histories. Yet the Bible is remarkably silent when speaking about the role of America in Bible prophecy...
Is the current state of Israel a work of God as predicted in Bible prophecy or is it merely an accident of history? I believe that modern Israel is a Divine work and is in the process of fulfilling Bible prophecy. I believe that Israel, as she is constituted today, is a work of God in progress preparing the nation for the tribulation, which will lead to her national conversion, the second coming of Christ and His millennial reign...
